Emotional tension does not just live in your thoughts; it lives in your body because of your thoughts and what you think and feel about your experiences.
You might notice it as tight shoulders, a heavy chest, or knee issues, perhaps an ongoing sense of unease.
Many people try to think their way out of how to feel; they try to solve the symptom by thinking about it more or by some method that looks to fix the problem. You can't think your way out of how you feel.
Real change often begins when you take the time to stop and feel what your body is telling you. Releasing emotional tension is not about force; it's about surrender.
When you:
slow down, and be still
become aware of what you feel
focus your attention without a goal
allow space for your body to respond
Change will happen, even small moments of being still and focusing can begin a shift. Taking a breath or two, bringing attention to where you feel discomfort, and allowing it to be there without the story, without analyzing it, or trying to fix it, will help shift resistance to what you feel. This is the beginning of a new way of responding to emotions held in the body.
If you have been holding stress as a normal state of being, or you don't remember what it feels like to be in a body that is not filled with anxiety, then you may want more support to navigate this emotional pain.
Support and guidance through online sessions is available wherever you are in the world.
